I do not take many pictures; I prefer viewing the past subjectively via memory. Painting operates similarly: it is a highly personal approach to how I picture the world. Controlling form and image alike, I manipulate my paints in search of this vision.
We all generally take photographs of the same things: important events, nature, loved ones. Because the images I appropriate are so ordinary, it is the tactile act of painting that provides each canvas with its focus on personal intimacy.
